Dr. Alma B (Waldron) Asuncion Obituary
Dr Alma B.W. Asuncion, age 52, originally from Rockingham, North Carolina, passed away on March 13, 2025, in Wellington, Florida, after a long illness.
Known as Dr. Asuncion or Dr. A, she served her community for over 25 years as a dedicated educator and leader. Dr. Asuncion served her country in the United States Air Force for eight years, teaching within the DoD (Department of Defense) for three years, and spent over 25 years in total improving the education system not just for the world but in the District of Palm Beach County. Serving the students of Suncoast, Florida Virtual, Woodlands Middle, and Roosevelt Middle, and concluding her career at the School District before being stricken with leukemia, prompting her early retirement but being able to complete and obtain her doctorate from Capella University. Her passion and impact are what motivate not only colleagues and educators but also outside of her work environment.
She was preceded by her mother (Malvina Waldron) and father (James Waldron Jr.).
She leaves to cherish her memory, her loving husband Vincent, a devoted son Tyler, her brother James, her sister-in-law Annie, and a host of grieving relatives, cousins (Adria & Anthony), longtime friends (Arika, Marylin, Stacey, Nicole, Rashelle, Kim, and Ericka just to name a few. Several close friends (Mama T, Marie Amalie, Cindy, Mary, Ms. Barbara, Ms. Elaine, Mama Debbie, Angela, Pammie, Terrell, Spencer (Big Brother), Annon, and too many others to list. Several "adopted" children, nieces, and nephews (Sofia, Crystal, Carrington), colleagues (Dr. Clarie Boyce), a dedicated medical staff in the VA, and home health services. The family wishes to especially send our gratitude to several special mentions - Jackie Martin, Julianna, Dr. Mary Stone, Ms. Dianne, Maria, Alexandria, Ms. Guerlande, Erin, Ms. Veronique, and all the staff at the West Palm Beach Veterans Administration.
The Memorial Service gathered with family, friends, colleagues, and loved ones will be on April 12th, 2025, at Gray's Temple CME Church. A celebration of life that is represented in dignity and beauty (purple), kind (lavender), hope (soft mint green), and peace (white).
At a later date, Dr. Asuncion will receive Military Honors at her internment, which will take place at the South Florida National Cemetery with a small gathering of friends and family.
